This hex head screw (made of hardened alloy steel) replaces the factory slotted screw.

Why replace this screw? Two reasons:

  1. It allows the shooter to use a torque wrench for precise and repeatable settings.
  2. No more marred slotted screws that diminish the appearance of your rifle.

Works great just follow the directions and drill out the brass gromment with the specified size drill bit,A nice finishing touch to my custom rifle.

absolutly perfect, no problems, no more scratching the stock with a screw driver!

I agree with the other rater on this product BUT I could not tighten the screw enough to keep things tight together. The stock and receiver had too much play. The little metal grommet that is in the wood stock just spun around when I tried to tighten down the hex screw. The problem is that the threads are along the entire length of the screw. The factory slotted screw is threaded only on the bottom half which allows you to tighten everything and make it snug without involving the metal grommet in the stock. I like the idea but it doesn't work for my gun.

Great item, uses a 1/8 hex key allowing for use with a torque wrench.

The screw I received is only partially threaded like the factory screw and its a little shorter than the factory screw. It actually fit the rifle better than the factory screw.

With a price so low you should have one with your rifle, no chance of going straight to the stock and stratch it with a screwdriver neither stripping of the screw head with this stuff

The factory slotted screw is tough to match to a proper driver, and w/care and only a few uses mine was damaged. The hex screw is simply cleaner, neater, and mates perfectly to a proper hex driver. Will it help you shoot better? Probably not, but it IS nicer than stock, and another part Ruger should be using anyway.
